Vietnam’s contributions to peacekeeping operations appreciated

Hanoi (VNA) – Kamal Malhotra, UN ResidentCoordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ResidentRepresentative in Vietnam, lauded the country’s contributions to UNpeacekeeping operations at a meeting on September 5.
At the meeting with Deputy Defence MinisterNguyen Chi Vinh in Hanoi, Malhotra said UN organisations are ready to helpVietnam’s peacekeepers to improve their skills.
They are also willing to help the country builda long-term strategy for deploying peacekeepers to UN missions and promote itsrole in UN peacekeeping operations, he added.
Sen. Lt. Gen. Vinh said after sending officersto UN peacekeeping operations, Vietnam is preparing for the deployment of alevel-2 field hospital and a military engineering unit, reiterating theVietnamese Government and army’s commitment to UN peacekeeping activities.
A UN delegation on June 27 had a working session with the Engineering High Command and watched the performance of a combat engineering team to assess their readiness for UN peacekeeping activities.
UN peacekeeping forces trust the enthusiasm and responsibility of Vietnamese peacekeeping forces, especially through the deeds of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Military Hospital 175.
A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam People’s Army attended the Chiefs of Defence Conference on United Nations peacekeeping in New York, the US, on July 6-7.
United Nations (UN) peacekeeping activities should be reformed to adapt to arising security challenges, said Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN.
Vietnam always regards the RoK as an important and long-term strategic partner; and hopes that the two sides will work together to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a more substantive, effective, and comprehensive manner in the coming time.

At the working session, General Secretary Lam presented the Party Committee of the VFF and central mass organisations with the Politburo’s Decision No. 304-QD/TW, which outlines the new structure, functions and tasks of the VFF Central Committee, marking a significant step in improving its organisational effectiveness.
Describing the exhibition as a large-scaled, content-rich, and unprecedented event with high requirements and limited preparation time, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged all ministries, sectors, and localities to participate with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring the exhibition is inclusive, objective, truthful, feasible, and impactful.
Vietnam’s attendance reaffirms its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and comprehensive, intensive, extensive and effective international integration.
Cheng stressed that this is third time PM Chinh has attended the meeting and he is among the few senior government officials participating in this year's event, which is considered as a rare and commendable gesture.
The fact that the Vietnamese PM has been invited to attend and speak at this important event for three consecutive years reflects the WEF as well as the international business community's recognition and high regard for Vietnam's position, role, and contributions to global and regional economic growth.
This new era marks a crucial phase in which the country must strive with determination to fulfil its strategic objectives, achieving breakthrough development at new levels of sophistication, quality, and global standing, laying the foundation for further growth. Era after era forms a continuous history of development, ascending steadily from one level to the next.
The resolution on such mechanisms aims to serve as a legal basis for opportunely dealing with difficulties and hindrances caused by legal regulations in important, priority, and urgent areas that require immediate settlement so as to unlock resources, facilitate economic development, and turn legislation into a competitive edge.
PM Pham Minh Chinh instructed chairpersons of the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to strictly follow the Ministry of Finance's guidelines on handling public finances and budgets, with a focus on preventing wastefulness, misconduct, or corruption.
Knapper reaffirmed the US's commitment to supporting a strong, independent, prosperous and resilient Vietnam, while respecting each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence and political systems.
Vietnam is deeply concerned about the escalating and complex conflict in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to regional and global peace and stability.
