Vietnam sends three more officers to UN peacekeeping missions
The Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony in Hanoi on April 8 to hand over the President's and the Defence Minister’s decisions to send three officers to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic, South Sudan and Abyei.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony in Hanoi onApril 8 to hand over the President's and the Defence Minister’s decisions tosend three officers to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in theCentral African Republic, South Sudan and Abyei.
The officers were deployed to replace their predecessors at the missions. Amongthem, one will serve as a military observer at the United NationsMultidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central AfricanRepublic (MINUSCA), another as a military observer at the United NationsMission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and the only female as a logistics staffofficer at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen.Hoang Xuan Chien, who is also head of the ministry’s steering committee for theparticipation in the UN peacekeeping operations, asked the three officers toquickly grasp the situation in their respective areas, properly perform theirassigned tasks, and improve their situation analysis and forecasting capacity.
Theywere also required to strictly follow the Party, State and army’s foreignpolicy, regulations of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the UN as well aslaws of the host countries.
Chien requested the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations to coordinatewith relevant agencies to continue personnel preparations for future deployment.
To date, Vietnam has sent 799 officers, in both the forms of individual andunit, to UN peacekeeping operations at the three missions and the UNheadquarters. They consist of 792 military officers and seven policemen./.

The Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony in Hanoi on January 12 to announce and present the President's Decision approving the sending of five officers to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.
Vietnam emphasised the need for ensuring security and safety for the forces and bases of peacekeeping missions and enhancing women’s role in peacekeeping operations, at a recent plenum of the UN Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C34).
Japan’s Vice Minister of Defence for International Affairs Serizawa Kiyoshi visited the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations in Hanoi on February 27, during which the two sides sought cooperation opportunities in UN peacekeeping in the time ahead.
President Luong Cuong appreciated the ambassadors' contributions to Vietnam's relations with their countries and called for continued efforts to help advance those ties.
PM Pham Minh Chinh called on the SSE and the Shanghai IFC to share their expertise with and provide technical support for relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies during the process of building Vietnam’s own international financial centre.

The new Quang Tri province will include 78 commune-level units and features key assets such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a long coastline, historical landmarks, three international border gates, deep-water ports, a modern transport network, and two airports.
The rehearsal took place at the National Military Training Centre No. 4, the Vietnam National University - Hanoi, and the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, involving more than 7,400 officers and soldiers.
