Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani hosted a welcome ceremony in Doha on October 31 for his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, who is paying an official visit to Qatar.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 30 evening had a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and community in Qatar right upon his arrival in Doha for an official visit to the Middle East country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested Qatar step up investment cooperation with Vietnam in infrastructure development, oil, renewable energy, green technology and digital transformation while hosting visiting Qatari Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on August 15.

Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu was on a visit to Qatar on July 4 – 5 where he co-chaired a political consultation at foreign deputy ministerial level, the second of its kind, with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong on December 17 sent a message of congratulations to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on the occasion of the country’s 141st National Day (December 18).

Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Truong Thi Mai has been on a visit to Qatar from August 17-21 during which she met with Qataris officials to discuss measures to boost bilateral relations.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said she had asked leaders of Qatar to receive more Vietnamese workers as the Western Asian country is preparing for the 2022 World Cup finals.
