Export results in 2023 are believed to be a stepping stone for the rice sector to seek new markets, affirm the brand of Vietnamese rice, better guarantee national food security, and promote sustainable production and export in the time ahead.

Vietnam now has a great opportunity to expand its rice market share in the UK after India, the biggest supplier of the grain to this market, banned the export, said Trade Counsellor Nguyen Canh Cuong at the Vietnamese Trade Office in the UK.

The PAN Group has been authorised to register ownership rights for the ST24 and ST25 rice varieties in foreign markets and protect related trademarks.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia has said it has taken measures to protect Vietnamese rice trademarks after an Australian firm registered for trademark protection of rice varieties ST24 and ST25.

Vietnam’s ST25 rice won the second place at a contest of the world’s best in 2020, held within the framework of the 12th world rice trade conference in the US from December 1 - 3.
