Philippine police on July 29 reported that the country's rescue teams have been working to minimise the oil leak from the MT Terra Nova, an oil tanker that sank off the coast of Manila Bay last week.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on July 28 reported that a second oil tanker had sunk off Bataan province, west of Manila.

Mae Ramphueng beach in Thailand's Rayong province was declared a disaster area late last month as oil leaking from an underwater pipeline in the Gulf of Thailand continued to wash ashore and blacken the sand.
