Saigon Co.op has stockpiled more than 12,000 tonnes of essential goods traditionally consumed for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in late January, or 30-50% higher than normal.

Retail sales in Ho Chi Minh City rang in at over 567.98 billion VND (22.36 million USD) in 2024, a year-on-year rise of 11%, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has reported.

As many as 69 enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City have engaged in the city’s market stabilisation programme this year, up 10 from the number in 2023.
