The Vietnam People's Army (VPA) has developed a Myanmar disaster relief deployment plan involving 79 military personnel, including command staff, communications teams, search-and-rescue forces, military dog handlers, and medical staff. Colonel Pham Hai Chau, deputy director of the VPA General Staff’s Search and Rescue Department, will lead the mission.
As much as 130,300 NOK (nearly 12,000 USD) was donated by Vietnamese people in Norway in support of the homeland’s disaster relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Yagi and its subsequent floods and landslides.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a hybrid conference on September 28 with representatives of 26 northern provinces and centrally-run cities to draw lessons from the response to recent Typhoon Yagi and subsequent rains and floods.
