Bau Trang is located in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province, about 60km northeast of Phan Thiet city center. Bau Trang has a unique terrain unlike any other place in Vietnam, which is a combination of a large freshwater lake with huge surrounding sand dunes, likened to Vietnam's "mini Sahara Desert". This destination has recently become more well-known after being chosen as the setting for some movies.
The Binh Thuan Provincial Museum has just opened an exhibition displaying the Cham royal heritage collection in Bac Binh district. This is the only collection of the Champa dynasty that has been preserved for over 400 years by the descendants of King Po Klong Mohnai.
