-The Party Central Committee held a meetingin Hanoi on January 31 to consider and make decisions on personnel affairs.The committee discussed the wishes to ceaseholding positions, stop working, and retire of Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member,member of the 13th Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party CentralCommittee’s Economic Commission; and Phan Viet Cuong, member of the 13th PartyCentral Committee and Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee.
-Outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador to UruguayDuong Quoc Thanh on January 30 came to bid farewell to Uruguayan Minister ofForeign Affairs Omar Pagan🌜ini who affirmed that there is plenty of room for thetwo countries to further step up coo💫peration.

Paganini expressed his hope that Vietnam will openits embassy in Montevideo soon to contribute to promote the bilateralpartnership, and asked for Vietnam’s support for Uruguay’s joining theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)after the Latin American country submitted its application in late 2022.
-There were 950 cyberattacks on Vietnam’sinformation system in January, a decline of 33% and 23% compared with that ofDecember 2023 and the same period last year, respectively.
Thedecrease is an initial result of the measures that agencies and units havetaken to enhance cyber safety and security, with more investment to monitoringsystems, problem-detecting systems and warnings.
-In a historic medical breakthrough, Vietnam witnessedthe first successful delivery of ꦗa baby over three weeks after having undergonefoetal heart surgery.
The baby was delivered on January 30 via Caesareansection, evoking emotional responses from the medical team. This birth marked asignificant milestone not only in Vietnam, but also stands as the firstinstance of successful foetal heart surgery in Southeast Asia.
-The number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan in 2023 reached anew record of 573,900, an increase of 15.9% over 495,051 visitors achieved in2019, the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) announced on January 30.
Currently, Vietnam is also in the top 10 largesttourist markets of Japan.
- Vietnam's tourism industry stands at the threshold of aremarkable milestone, with experts asserting that an impressive figure of 14-15million foreign visitors could be achieved this year, provided unexpectedissues are kept at bay.
A recent survey conducted by Vietnam Report JSChas unveiled an optimistic outlook, with 66.7% of businesses in the tourism andhotel industry expressing confidence in more favourable prospects this year.Among them, 92.9% anticipate robust growth in revenue, while 85.7% foresee anuptick in both profit and visitor numbers.
